OtherWise Briefs: Just a reminder. We are becoming one of your primary filters, right? A lot of ore gets crushed to get the gold...so, hold on to or print these issues.
When you're ready for that travel adventure, business move, gift
of music, or evening in front of the squak machine - you'll be glad
your Golden Retriever is on your lap.
CULTURE: Musical Persian Delight. "Anroozha". Farid Farjad. Classical Persian violin & piano. Impeccable. One of our favorite things to do is sharing those improbably perfect, impossible to describe, not-easily found blends of great stuff. Now, I understand those annoying reviewers who cover their tushes with the catch-all descriptions of certain cultural offerings by blathering: classical, yet contemporary: exotic, yet familiar; romantic, yet meditative. What can you do, if it's true??? Our Golden Retriever fetches for you "Anroozha" - which is all of the above. Could be just right for you, or you and that other person together, or just that other person - for its classically inspired, exotic - yet familiar, romantic - yet meditative moods. Call Taraneh Enterprises in Reseda CA at 818 708-1166 to order... About $15. Ask for the first album/CD of the artist. It's the best of 3(If the proprietors aren't in, you'll get a recording in Farsi... Read them something from Rumi.)
Enjoy, and have a lovely dinner together.
WISE ENTERPRISE: David Whyte. The man & his work,- "The Heart Aroused; Poetry and Preservation of the Soul in Corporate America". The words: soul, spirit, & heart are big business, now. They are also showing up in Big Business. I guess that's a good thing, although the inevitable is already happening. The words themselves are becoming a hot commodity, reduced to glib cultural artifacts. Nonetheless - there are people who have played the role of pioneers in this commercial renaissance, and the originality of their work merits an imbibe, like a fine Welsh ale.
I thought David Whyte, Welsh naturalist, turned poet in America was
already very well known for being worth the drink. I'm hearing many
potential OtherWisers say "who?". We hereby OtherWisely recommend his
book (beautifully designed), as well as his other work, to those who
have not heard of him or who have any doubts about the quiet thunder
of the hearty "new business model."
Don't stop at their previous front page. Go in.
Look for more of these kinds of gatherings around the country.
TRAVEL: TimeOut. We're a footloose group here, and I especially enjoy open spaces with European roots, trees included. Still, most of us will find ourselves travelling in cities either in transit or for exploration. A great resource for a lot that is OtherWise in character is the English-based "TimeOut" guides, magazines, postings. Our Golden Retriever Fetches page is up! They are there. Go to: http://www.wisefools.com/grlinks/grfetches.html
Their guide was right on and indispensable in Budapest. I hear the
same from others regarding other world destinations they cover.
WISDOM: Crazy or Otherwise. None. Sagacious, yes? OTHERWISE BRIEFS:
