"I and mine convince not by arguments, simile, or rhyme...
We convince by our presence." - Walt Whitman
- MONEY. We think about it from time to time, and so do you. Let's
make an OtherWise fetch. From the gazillion books and tapes that
are telling us how to treat money (and business) - with or without
Soul - a few stand out. One of them is Jacob Needleman's "Money &
the Meaning of Life", a provocative and practical inquiry that will
net you a worthy attitude toward the stuff. It will never outsell
Deepak, of course, and maybe that's wherein lies its value.
- FOR THOSE who like to travel light, and have considered dumping
their personalities, whole hog, right here in the transit station
(Earth) - we recommend you pay a visit to Gangagi - an American
woman from the South who took the plunge in India in the lineage
of Ramana Maharshi and is Here to tell the story.
Go to http://www.gangaji.org.
This is spiritual hardball, tough love. No gimmicks.
- SPEAKING of traveling light and authentic, on the more mundane
level, - you might have heard of "Europe Through the Back Door"
by Rick Steves. He's a veteran Good Guy with some PBS
presentations and has some useful recommendations for the savvy
traveler.
What's more, he's got the goods, - that is, accessories for light
travel. Any on-line or average size bookstore carries his books.
He's in Seattle, and his URL is: http://www.ricksteves.com
The downside to his world is that he sometimes
aims too much towards the budget-minded traveler. Stay tuned
for up-coming Golden Retrievers with some tips for the
authentic vagabond with gourmet taste. Now that I read it, I like
that phrase... Don't steal it. I think we'll make a book out of it.
In fact, we'll take recommendations from you to fill it.
